I've never heard of 'recombobulated - and nor has The Oxford English Dictionary - so I guess it's just a Bernardo 'coinage'!

'Discombobulated', now, that is a jocular word created in the USA in the 1830s to mean 'disturbed', 'disconcerted' or 'confused'.

I'm sure Bernardo himself will be along to explain, but I imagine he was suggesting that the division of Germany into East and West after World War II 'disturbed' the Lnder, whereas reunification into one country again got rid of that 'confusion'. 'Recombobulated' is, doubtless, a wonderful word, but I can't see it catching on somehow!
