My girlfriend of Peruvian Nationality is coming over in August. Since there are no direct flights to the UK she will have to stopover in a European country, likely to be Spain. Will she need a transit visa if she is only stopping over for a few hours and not actually leaving the Madrid airport?

For Spain she won't need one, providing she has her onward ticket etc. However, if she has any adverse immigration history in Spain she should get one anyway to be on the safe side as she could still get refused entry.
