I've stayed in Playa de Inglais just a bit further down the beach. Maspalomas is the best place to stay on the island though, much cleaner, prettier and away from the 18-30s crowd which stink out the streets in Playa.

There is a great website where people can post about their experiences in hotels, its something like holidaysuncovered, probably .co.uk so you should definately check on there
