I would like to book a long weekend in Feb for me and the hubby. He is currently working overseas and Feb will be the next time I see him so I want it to be special (but not frighteningly expensive). I was thinking about the Lake District but the nice hotels are extortionate! Just to add a spanner in the works I will be 22wks preg by that time so no where too hilly or I wont be able to walk anywhere.
Can any one suggest somewhere that might fit in with my rather specific criteria? TIA x

don't know what you call "extortionate" -

does this comply?
Try Lake District away from the usual (and crowded) Windermere, Ambleside, Bowness. Ullswater is nice and quiet, Leeming House Hotel, The Old Church? Or you could try the Northumberland coast where it's flatter but has stunning scenery?
Chester is a lovely city fairly flat and with reasonably priced hotels on City Road which is an eassy walk to the city centre. It has the advantage of The Rows streets of medieval buildings at two levels so you can walk and browse undercover if the weather's typically February ish. Some great places to eat too try Raffles on The Cross (Centre of City)it's a Chinese restaurant upstairs on the Rows which specialises in banquets where you pay a set price and eat whatever you want from the excellent menu also a couple of romantic French restaurants and a super posh 4* hotel The Grosvenor if you want to push the boat out for a coffee or a special meal

Have you thought about north norfolk,it is absoloutely beautiful and very relaxing.

There are a few hotels i can reccomend,

The Hoste Arms at Burnham Market
The White Horse in Blakeney
Byfords in Holt

All three are favourites of mine with very good restaurants and are not overly expensive. If you are looking for somewhere to just relax and chill out together its perfect

Or try staying in pubs, there are loads in the Lake District that do bed and breakfast. I got married in February and had our honeymoon in the Lakes - it was a great time to go.

Don't acquaint posh with nice by the way - there are plenty of nice places that aren't posh but are nice.
