Can anyone tell me the best/cheapest ferry crossing to Ireland please? We don't mind if we travel to N or S Ireland initially as we shall be visiting both.We will be travelling in a Peugeot Boxer motorhome conversion and it will be our first trip in this vehicle so any tips will be welcome. Thanks a lot

http://www.directferries.co.uk/ireland.htm shows ferry operators & routes to the south, and http://www.directferries.co.uk/northern_ireland.htm shows the same for the north.

mrsann, you might want to consider joining the camping caravan club 'cos many ferry companies give fair discounts to their members.

also, i'd advise a weekend trip to test it out and find if there are any niggles to sort out before taking a big trip abroad. this is teaching your granny to suck eggs i know but it's meant in a helpfull way.

Thanks Markja for the sound advice Agree fully about a short shakedown trip but we have towed caravans for twenty odd years (quite different I know) and my partner was a long distance lorry driver for several years
