We are thinking of going on a trip to Amsterdam next tuesday on the overnight crossing and returning on the following overnight crossing just so that we can stock up on cigarettes (for our own use I must stress). Has anyone done this run and have any tips on how to get the best out of the trip and can we buy the cigarettes onboard the ferry rather than carry them around Amsterdam. Any tips or suggestions would be very welcome. Kath.

Thank you for your answer Steve. Can we buy our full allowance of 3,200 cigarettes each in one sale and do you know if the prices are the same as if we bought them in the shops in Amsterdam? Kath.
Why not ask on the way over, check the prices on the boat, then check the prices in Amsterdam to see which is the best deal? I would have though that the last thing you would want to do is lug 16 or so packs of cigarettes around Amsterdam all day.

It might also be a good idea to check prices in the UK before you go.

I have used the Zeebrugge-Hull route many times and, usually, if you are doing a "3-day mini-cruise" (i.e. returning on the same day as the one on which you arrive), you keep the same cabin and can leave your bags etc in it.

If I were you, I'd phone P&O:
