Has anyone (that is not American or Canadian) bought Amtrak tickets from their website? I can see how to order tickets from Via Rail (for Canadian tickets) as there is an option to collect them from the station. I can only presume there is that option with Amtrak, but unless I fill in all the details etc, it is not telling me, and I don't want to get too far without being sure. I hope this makes sense!

I tried a few years ago but it wouldn't accept a foreign address. I therefore had to get the tickets posted to a friend in the US.

I bought Amtrak tickets over the internet and picked them at the station.

Or rather I didn't because the station computer wasn't working, so I travelled using the e-mail confirmation as a ticket.

WE ordered tickets to travel by train from Seattle to Vancouver and back by coach (the only way possible at reasonable time of day due to time of the one train). We ordered them over the internet from Amtrak and picked them up at Seattle station with no problem - although the "ticket man" was quite excited as it was the first time he had had someone order tickets from the UK.
Without taking a risk what about e-mailing Amtrak on their web site and ask what they suggest you do. Worth a try ?
