Are Secteranism And Racism Similar?

Hi there I was just wondering if secteranism and racism are similar? The reason I am asking is I am on my last Open University essay for 2nd year and discussing 2 different books. Lonely Londoners. Where there is a lot of racism and 2 short stories by James Joyce Dubliners where there is a couple of anti Catholic v anti protestant remarks.

I'd say so, both are based on hatred of people who are different

Yes I think so. Both are examples of simple tribalism. As an amateur Humanist, I do wonder if mankind will ever get past this.

I guess the main difference is you can leave your sect, but you can't leave your race.

I think you have to do a 2x2 matrix - good luck by the way. I did a few third year option - computability and logic and fluid mechanicss - well worth it

similarities - yo have a set ( taigs) and those outside the set ( prots) and you ascribe - like - human, unlike - difft churches. like agreesive, tend to fight, march unlike: er support the police - note beliefs

race: set is defined by member of the chosen race, and oother set is - "the rest". characterisitic - they are not us, that is they dont look like us...anyway the idea is to get you to think. - not you to get us to think
