No arrests were made, so all in all the new law appears to be a bit of a damp squib - as it should be.

Knobbery of the highest order, an utterly shameful display of inadequates elbowing their way to the front then being found out.

Give then a football stadium and let them fight it out, be more fun that the footy.

This new"Hate Crime Law"is a massive waste of space.Thousands reported JK Rowling-nothing happened.Thousands reported Humza for a racist speech he did-nothing happened.A big OldFirm game today-nothing happened.I think this law will be another one of the SNPs nonsensical laws before they get turfed out at the next election.

From the reports, it appears that the bobbies on duty failed to 'police' the event according to both the older and newer legislation.

The opening and application of this humungus can of worms seems to be the end of the road for the SNP.

Ah, well.....

One can only hope JTH,however the SNP or ALBA nationalists on this site(are there any left on this site)might disagree.

"failed to 'police' the event"

So, policing as per the new norm then.

I think the law will have been well and truly broken during the lunch-time Old Firm derby. Even more so had away fans been allowed entry.

Methinks the JK Rowling"transphobia"or the Humza Yousaf"racist"speech should have been the cops first targets Ken,they werent. The law is a dead duck now.Like all the stupid SNP stunts, they all end in failure.

I am delighted that Ms Rowling - who clearly has the finances to hire the finest legal minds available to defend her in court should the need arise -  has called the bluff of these idiot woke numpties and invited them to put up or shut up.

Unsurprisingly, the thought of trying to defend their barmy ideas in a court of law proved rather less palatable than the notion of shouting their poison in the media to any gullible paper that would have them.

Like all bullies, when challenged, they faded away, and hopefully they have taken their pointless attention-seeking nasty baseless rubbish with them.

Free speech - genuine fee speech - wins the day.

According to various reports the police had between 3000 and 4000 complaints to deal with within the first 24 hours of this law becoming operational.  Perhaps they were busy.

Tut tut ynna, you should know by now people of colour cannot be racist.

Take Diane Abbott, she said one of the most racist things I've ever heard, but because she was was talking about white people she got a pass. Had a white person said what she said about POC you'd have heard the uproar from the moon.

It has to be the right kind of free speech though, as we see often enough on here. x

I can't help but feel sorry for the genuine trans- genders with all this going on around them.

andres - 'Genuine' transgenders will continue their lives as before.

It is the the pink/blue haired rent-a-mob with rings through their noses who agitate for access to all women's spaces; the blokes who think putting on a wig and a smear of lipstick together with a pelmet dress makes them a woman, who shout and intimidate women and demand that 'Trans rights are human rights' - these are the troublemakers. And yet they are the ones carpet-bombing the police with their vexatious  complaints under the new Hate Crime Act.

andres, jth is right.  Genuine transgenders will continue to live as they have done, quietly, causing no trouble and accepted in their community.

The flag-waving mob must make them very unhappy.

Rachel Crandall-Croker.

'She's' gorgeous. What a stunning example of a woman.

Police fail to use new law
