As we are in the school holiday period I reckon all kids should be shown this clip. before they mess with the sea. Very lucky little girl

That video won't deter many from doing something similar around water, Retro. At that age, didn't we all believe we were invincible?

I agree. If it saves one child it would be worth it. My two grand daughters live by the sea in Dorset and are on way to us now, as I type, for a week. I'll show them the clip to hopefully bang it home though the elder one is a sea cadet and should be aware. She has capsized enough times during dinghy drills.
Too late for some down here.

Mostly it is people from the Cities than just dont appreciate the power of Mother Nature. Down here most can swim and are aware of the dangers. Still get some muppets though and its not just kids either.

Horrifying but also not surprising.
There was another video from...I think...the same day and also from Ilfracombe. Children...and adults...dodging huge waves at a locally notorious car park. Commentators said that cars had been swept out to sea at that location in the past.
I used to carry out similar activity when I was a kid - nobody ever got swept away, but of course that is part of the problem - many kids can do it and always get away with it but that doesn't necessarily mean it's safe - one slip or one freak wave and whoops, it's too late to do anything about it.

This girl was very very lucky.

But kids will be kids, and we warn them about so many things that never come about so they put it down to just another example of over-protective parental behaviour.
