We have had so many strikes this year and we (commuters) who uses the services on daily basis are the ones suffering the most.

Why should we allow the Rail companies to increase the fare by 5.9%? They should reduce the cost instead.

Walk.
If the strikers get a pay rise, then I'm sure fares will go up, someone has to pay for it, and that'll be the users. Same as everything else.
Travel by bus, drive a car, take a taxi, ride a bike, scooter, skateboard, or as Doug advised, walk.
Move closer to your workplace.
Work from home.
Retire.
Buy a car.

the increase is for regulated fares, and these are set by the DfT (in England), Transport Scotland or the Welsh Assembly. the rail companies have no say, they charge what they're told. The rail companies do set the fare levels for unregulated fares, but none have yet made any announcement.
Take the bus ?
Sweet *** all.
As an aside, like the Royal Mail workers, the Railway ones will price themselves out of the market.
Bike?
Vote the Tories out at the GE and wait for the winners to renationalise?
