Advice On A Motorhome Holiday

I am planning on a motorhome holiday but have never done it before. I’ve looked at different layouts, but I don’t have much idea as to what is most important.
In a vehicle of 6 – 7 metres, with a group of 4, is a fixed bed the best idea, or does it sacrifice too much space for other conveniences? Is a pull-down bed or made-up bed over the cab comfortable enough for adults as they look so cramped? Is a shower over the sink and toilet workable, rather than a separate shower space?
I would appreciate some advice, some pointers, on what is important and what to avoid. Thanks in advance.

entirely up to you how much space you need - any chance you could look at some before renting? Whatever you get you'll wish it was bigger.
4 adults? However you do it its going to be cramped if you don't have an awning that can be slept in or a separate tent. It will be a "fun" holiday rather than a luxury one. Its all workable but depends on your preferences and priorities. I think you need to sit down as a group and decide yourselves what is important, what will be a deal breaker, and what you can live with. Bed comfort also depends upon the size and build of the people sleeping in them. A shower over the sink and loo is fine unless one of your party need the loo while someone else is showering....also how do you feel about a wet loo seat? Will you want to cook or will you eat ready made picnic food, get takeaway or take a barbecue with you? Will the campsites you choose allow barbecue use? How well do you know each other? How much privacy will any of you need?
Agreed, 4 adults makes it very crowded.

Also, be careful if you’re heading south. Sister-in-law went to the Med in a motor home, and they nearly COOKED inside their tin oven.

Maybe a 40 foot air-conditioned Winnebago would do you!
Don't do it. No privacy for any of you, 4 adults will be very cramped in any motor home.
BA to barry - they're designed for 2 adults and 2 children, a family group where privacy isn't necessary. Even if it was your own van and you'd done it before on your own I'd hesitate at taking adult friends; it could turn out to be the quickest way to end a friendship.
Why don't each couple hire their own motorhome - much more space and much more fun.
brainiac - have you looked at the cost of motorhome hire?
Depends on how close you are. :0)
They are going to be VERY close
