How is it where you live RE: Foodbank distribution centres?

We have 16 centres in Stoke and 2 have shut with more expected to follow (might be a question of whether I will still have a job before long)

Would really like to know the current position nationwide.
Thanks.

Guess many people arnt aware of their local foodbanks then?
Not had to use them.
One about a mile away.
Don't know how they're doing though.
On news all donations down.

My local food bank introduced a scheme where you could pay via standing order allowing them to buy pallets of items in shortage, rather than relying on people leaving in collections at supermarkets or being dropped off at their warehouse.

Are you for real??

drmorgans,
I might have reacted in haste, please eleborate
Sorry nails. I don’t know of any food banks.
I took drmorgan's post as referring to donors, Nailit- they can donate money by standing order (so food bank could buy goods) rather than donate goods

Yes, I am for real. Instead of donating a bag of groceries you can set up a standing order allowing the food bank to buy what they need.

Crossed posts, all sorted
Ours are still collecting in the local supermarket and seem to be getting more donations than usual. Also the local cat sanctuary. Quite a poor area, maybe people are more aware of how easily things could change and they might need help.

Thats really good to hear Rowan :-)
Nailit, so far as I am aware, the foodbanks in my area are operating as normal. What is unfortunate is that donations are down quite drastically. Some other organisations are helping where they can eg Age Concern. Hope your job is safe, you do valuable work.

Times like these bring out the best and the worst in people

Im privaliged to work with the best...
I will still do my usual each month and donate items to the value of my small change jar, I usually choose hygiene stuff but may add some coloured pencils and sweets for those with their kids at home. I wish I could afford to do what I could do when Dave was alive.
Question Author
Rowan, cant speak for other areas but Stoke is really struggling at the moment. ANYTHING that you donate will be appreciated :-)
