Anybody ever been to the Isle of Wight? What’s it like? What’s there to see/do? Mr Smow has a week off in December and he randomly suggested it but I know absolutely nothing about the place.

Didn't you get quite a lot of ideas last time, last month?
Thought I answered this question before?
In December ?
Shiver with cold ?
I hear there's a garlic farm. May get good rates off season.

I couldn’t find the question and couldn’t remember the answers so posted again lol
Retrocop, I think you did - there're quite a few replies on Smowball's earlier thread.

Shame it has to be December for a break but that’s the only time he can spare.
Nice little towns and villages. Quite quiet I would think in December. Osborne House where Queen Victoria spent a lot of time is worth a visit and I liked the place which shows the work of Julia Margaret Cameron - one of the first successful Victorian female photographers.
If you go - hope you both enjoy a nice break - you deserve it.
What's to do there?
Wait for the ferry back to the land of the living.
(On my only visit, it poured with rain the whole time....probably coloured my opinion of the place!).

Ok, so if not I OF W where would you all suggest in December??
Don’t go, it’s second only in awfulness to the Isle of Man. There are so many other places to go, especially in December, that are far, far nicer.
New Zealand, Australia, South America, South Africa .
Buenos Aires. If you're lucky, you might catch the Jacarandas still in full bloom :-)

I promise not to be jealous...
Smow, not sure if it still an issue but I mentioned last time that the NHS services over there leave much to be desired.
Does he like whiskey?
If so go to Islay
Plenty to do for a week and due to the Gulf Stream it does get freezing cold.
Drive to Brugge for a week dead easy from London
If you are in serious trouble they have several choppers to whip you off to Southampton General Hospital faster than Leroy on a Rocket in all weather.

It’s got to be this country.....
