Traveling from Edinburgh to Inverness as a passenger, I know the A9 has a bad reputation.,but the scenery was breathtaking Scotland really is a beautiful country, and yes I go abroad 3 times a year,if only we could have the weather that the likes of Crete has,I would stay at home.

Scotland - the most beautiful land in the UK with no question of doubt.
//if only we could have the weather that the likes of Crete has,I would stay at home. //

if we had the weather of crete, the Scottish highlands would be like the gobi desert.
I think the weather makes the highlands what they are. Without the mist, the cloud and fog, it wouldn't have that mysterious vibe to it.

It's so grand and vast, the further north you drive, the more it feels like you're driving into middle earth
The gobi has snow leopards, now that would be cool

Correct, you can drive the same road every day, and every day it looks different (are you sure your no Scots.?)

5 spells of torrential rain in 2 hours now the sun is out and it’s a lovely night could only be Scotland
Totally agree. Was back last month for the first time in over 20 years, and I couldn't get over just how green everything was - and that was Glasgow. Must be all that rain....

This is the first time in many years that I have heard so many folk complain about the weather, locals as well as tourists wondering what’s happened to flaming June, it has always been a topic of conversation, but never so much moaning as now.
Going to Gairloch next week. Very much looking forward to it.
Sounds lovely Zacks I've been up that way myself. Ullapool is a lovely area, as well as the isle of Skye.
Stock up on midge defences, Zacs

Zacs I hope the weather is better for you,not been very good to us here in Findhorn skies are darkening at the moment, think we are in for another downpour,
Did I tell you it’s nearly a fiver for a pint of Guinness.?
But I do hope you have a great time.cheers
We have GG. Near the sea, so hoping the off-shore / on-shore breeze dissipates the little bleeders.
I find what works better than smidge is a big ol bee keeper costume.

We won't be drinking out much Jordy. We're getting a Tesco delivery and I'm just about to google malt whiskies ;-)

Zacs I am not into malts when I am at home in Scotland I prefer something like ballintines from Asda or Sainsbury’s at £15 a bottle, try it sometime.
I'm very much into single malts, Jordy. Especially Islay ones.
A few years ago I travelled to Inverewe to photograph the wonderful garden there. Before I left Fort William, where I was staying, Stocked up with midge deterrents. It was a beautiful hot day yet never heard a midge let alone be attacked by one. Would the Guinness book of records be interested? :o)
I walked to Inverness. Don't know what road I was on. Aviemore? and Fort William were on it. Snowed all the while.
