The Roberts couple from the Wirral that tried to sue for Food Poisoning, do you think that it give British holiday makers a bad name in Spain?

Yes, I do agree with the sentence, but I don't think that it will change the Spaniards' view of British holidaymakers.
Yes, serves 'em right, I think the Courts hope it will act as a deterrent against others doing it.
Yes...I agree with the sentence and would have been happy if they got longer.

what custodial sentence did they get please?

I think it would just confirm the Spaniards opinion of British holiday-makers anyway.
The media shouldn't have mentioned the Facebook posts. Now anyone contemplating doing the same would make sure they don't post all their happy holiday snaps online.
Yes I agree with the punishment received they attempted to commit fraud!
I think he got 9 months and she got 6. Something like that.

Ok Baths xx am I right Gary??????
Thanks ummm, not long enough imo

Hi Islay xx

Always thought Fraud would have merited a heavier sentence.
Yes I think they should have got longer.
Do I think that their punishment will change how the Brits are perceived in Spain - not at all. Brits are seen as common brash and cheap due to he drinking habits of all (not just the young ones).

I still don't agree with what they tried to do Ummmm, that's dishonest, it does not say a lot about the Hotels reputation that could be lost, I think the Hotels should sue these people.
Gary??? Look for Bathsheba, then real name x x
Sue them for what? It'll just cost the hotels money to get nothing as you can't get blood out of stone.

The travel firms should do the suing and maybe ban them from using their firm for life.
The hotels should keep their money in their pockets and let other guests loose on various websites extolling the virtues of those hotels.

along the lines of 'we stayed in the same hotel as that odious couple at the same time and all food was fresh and tasty.'
Oh yes because, just like shoplifters and fare evaders and the like, their behaviour......it is just theft by another name and all of are footing the bill.
I've no problem with jailing the fraudsters but I wish hotels would be even handed. Some years ago in an Ibiza hotel, not a party palace, OH picked up his shoes from the wardrobe and a nail sticking out of the frame cut his forehead badly. We went down to reception with blood oozing to get some medical help. The person picked up the phone and, naturally in Spanish, told maintenance to get to our room and pull the nail out. When she'd finished I asked her, in Spanish, if when the maintenance man had removed the nail did he also do cut heads. She had the good grace to blush and the manager took over to deal with the cut. It never occurred to us to sue though.
zebo - Always wonderful if you can embarrass people who are being rude to you because they think you don't understand.

I recall queuing in a local bookshop to be served, and in front of me was a group of German teenagers, possibly on an exchange. The gobbiest one said something to his friends in German in a loud voice, and they all laughed. The assistant then said something in German to him, and he went crimson and quiet as a mouse.

When I got to the till, I asked her what the exchange was.

The assistant told me that the student had said in German, "If the fat cow behind the counter gets a move on, maybe we can get out of here.

And she said, also in in German, "The fat cow is working as fast as she can, and you will be served as soon as possible."

Priceless.

I also remember the gorgeous teenage assistant at our local café advising me that when she went on holiday to Spain, she enjoyed putting the young locals in their place in Spanish when they talked about her - her dad was Spanish and she spoke it fluently, including the appropriate salty language for the occasion!
