I want to apply for a job but I am going on holiday for 3 weeks in 2 weeks time, how is this going to affect applications, because some may not get back to me until during the holiday when I'm away, some may get back to me within a week, will it severely reduce my chances. Because what if someone gets back to me within a week and says start straight away then I'd be working for almost less than a week before taking a 3 week break.

Also when I get back from holiday I may be able to get a better job helping out with project management which will pay way better than a job in a store or as a waiter which I will be applying for now if I do. The thing is I might not get that better job so I kinda want one of these as a backup, but if I did get it and then quit after working a couple of weeks with a 3 week holiday between whats the implications of that?

Can't you just wait until you get back off holiday and then apply?

If someone does get back to you and want you to start straight away, it won't look very good if you turn round and say 'Ok, but I can only work for a week and then I'm on holiday for 3 weeks'.  They will probably want to know why you didn't wait until you came back.

You could miss phone calls or letters inviting you for interviews or anything, the employers won't know you are away, they will probably think you are ignoring them and that may go against you should you apply to them again at a later date.
