Yes
No, they will also work with an indoor aerial.

hc - OH said that, I was just checking :-)

gylly - can you get them with the box and do they work just as well?
If you're in a very strong signal area they may work fine on an internal aerial, otherwise you'll need at least a "proper" wideband aerial in the loft, or preferably an outside one.
Whether an indoor aerial is suitable depends very much on the strength and quality of the signal in your location. It's usually a case of "suck it and see".

So it would be better in the long run to have a roof one installed?
I have a loft aerial (DIY job) which is excellent but am in a very strong signal area.
Question Author
Is there no way of knowing what kind of signal area we live in?

Anyone know a good aerial installer?
Surely you already have a roof aerial?

Everyone does, don't they?
I get acceptable Freeview with indoor + booster in West Edinburgh. It really depends on your own situation.

Hopkirk - it had an accident one cold windy night.
Ummmm,

If there was one there previously, it would be a matter of just re-connecting and fixing securely, £50+ ish

Ummmm,

Hopefully the +ish is closer to £50 than more, it's 4-5 years since I had mine done. Get a quote first?
