I want to book a holiday in the sun, but HATE driving abroad. apart from Cyprus, which hot sunny countries also drive on the left?

DT, that was shocking!

Mark, thank you.. I have a lovely Maltese neighbour who will offer lots (probably too much!) advice :o)
Agree with MR about Malta. It is some time since I was there but I thought it an excellent place.
Don't go to Gozo, you will be stung by 50,453 waspy type things. :0(
I've sailed into the Grand Harbour in Malta, but never got off the ship :-(

that many, Mick? gosh!

thanks scotman :o)

right.. so who has a villa to lend me? I'll be ever so careful with it, and I don't smoke..
I didnt like Malta at all!
with that avatar, sara, there should be no problem landing a villa!
ENGLISH Africa DTcrosswordfan?
Actually, it is more dodgy driving in Malta than it is in Spain or France. they stop and give way whilst going round the roundabouts..........if my memory is to be believed.
true, douglas, are you being a pedant like me in an earlier thread (one of Eddie's)? I think most know what I meant i.e those countries where English is a major language.

you may change your mind , after reading some of that ^

the worst driving I've ever seen is either Rome or Lisbon. there is no way in the world I would drive in Italy or Portugal!
Last time I was in Malta they colour-coded the background of car registration plates for - Private owned, Taxis or Hire Cars. At that time all the local seemed to give way to any hire car. Took me a while to figure it out.

I might go to Devon :o(
you could go on holiday and just not drive Sara. I am sure there will be lots of places with decent transport networks - Italy or Greece are meant to be good (Italy for trains and Greece for boats). Went to Malta a good few years ago and it was great - and went to Gozo for the day. Malta remains the hottest place I have ever been to and that includes Turkey twice, Mexico and India. Jersey/Guernsey might be a good option too.
Then why not state it, you're typing anyway and it's not charged by the letter.
I get a feeling you would find the Channel Islands a tad dull Sara.
worst for driving - Egypt, then China, then Nigeria

hottest for me Kuwait +50C most uncomfortable Nigeria/Oman and sometimes Houston.

coldest Montreal -34c
