Where are you travelling from ?
There is a very regular train service to Witham from Liverpool Street Station if it helps

You can get a National Express coach from Victoria to Stansted Airport (takes about  an hour and three quarters) and then an X20 bus from there to Colchester (takes about 90 mins).

As above, train from Liverpool Street, takes about 45 minutes.

Prior to Covid, the National Express service from London to Ipswich ran up the A12, calling in at Witham on the way.  However when Covid struck, the route was changed to go via Stansted Airport.  So the only remotely sensible way to get from Victoria to Witham by bus is, as NJ says, to change at Stansted Airport.  (While it might just about be 'remotely sensible', it's still far from ideal though).

To follow a more straight line route to get to Witham, you'd need to take a bus to Stratford, then one to Romford, followed by a third one to Brentwood and a fourth one to Witham.

Although it's far from cheap, the only easy way to get from Victoria to Witham is by using the Tube to connect into the rail service from Liverpool Street or Stratford.

I must say, Chris, I was surprised to discover that a National Express route does not go stright up the A12.

Let the train take the strain.
