Ed, do you think it might be a good idea to remind users to treat all new comers with respect?

Newbies are treated with suspicion and if it wasn't for the fact that Prendy was in the same room as me he would have been banned/suspended or treated like a troll.

He jumped in feet first because of me...and because of what I told him about the site. He should be left alone to find out the site etiquette for himself before other users call him 'creepy' or presume he's a troll....

This site needs new users, quite badly in my opinion, he's 19...he's a good boy. Let new users find their feet fgs...

Ummm, I think people had issues with a 19yo stranger offering to give them offsite 'life advice'

Can you see why this might sound weird to some? ... and as you were there, should you have given him a nudge in the right direction?

I was in the room Naz...I wasn't checking what he posts. Ginger was playing poker...

I missed the threads as the one where you said 'would you' was deleted before I got to the next page.

C'mon...he's new, he's 19...and I dropped him at the deep end. Your comment, in my opinion, was worse than anything else I read...but you know I have a sense of humour.....so that's fine.

Maybe I am being a bit protective....but it has brought to light how harsh users are on newbies. I'm not completely excluding myself from that either.
Possibly ... but it's not about 'my' comment is it?

He did say ask anything, it was in Chatterbank ... I'm sure there's plenty worse here on a daily basis.

I didn't notice it so much before Bez....so I'm probably guilty of it as well...

Naz...you know, I know :-)
It's always been like that. If I hadn't known he was your nephew, I'd have probably ignored him for a bit until I'd decided what I thought of him. It's what I do to most new users. If I'm dubious, I just steer clear of 'em.
hey bez we can be newbiies together
I think we have all been guilty of judging someone wrongly on meeting them for the first time, either in real life or on line. Prendy seems to me to have jumped in with both feet first but the only way I can think of describing his posts are like an exuberant puppy. I haven't been on line much this weekend so have just read them and they made me laugh but I didn't see the removed ones.

CD - Very true...and that's why when he joined I put up the 'I love you Prendy' thread....
Same thing happened to kpeanuts13 (summit like that when she joined)... and she's my middle sister. Knob-a-job and bellend were very rude to her as I recall... But she's a mouthy cow so could take it lol

I thnk i must have got lucky when i joined x
My advice was and is to Prendy, not to repeat virtually the same post more than once in different categories, as to the content well that is up to each and everyone to comment or ignore, Prendy will settle in am sure.

well said bez x
Yes but he had answers in all three, not as if it was ignored, still maybe he has other hobbies other than agony aunt/uncle? Music/Computer Games etc?

Bez - Mamy is right. He told me after that he'd posted the same thing in different topics. I didn't sit him down and tell him the do's and dont's...

He'll learn as he goes on....someone calling him 'creepy' though really got my goat up and made me realise that there may be a 'clique'
lol, how long have you been here, ummmy?
