I'm getting messages from windows telling me to update, .I get these messages every week or so, I do click on and let them update.

Is it OK to click onto to updates from?. am I doing the right thing ?

Yes if it's the little yellow shield on your taskbar, do it and follow the instructions (including re-starting).
...or a big pale yellow balloon saying "updates are ready for your computer".
They often contain important security updates that will help to protect you against intrusions.
Most Windows updates are issued on a Tuesday.
In fact it is a little dangerous to NOT install them.

These fixes often fix security problem in Windows, and scammers and the like will often use these "security holes" in Windows to access your computer.

So by installing these fixes you are blocking up these security holes.

Note you can set Windows so it installs these fixes without even asking you.

This is a very easy thing to change in Windows.
Click start.type updates in search box,that'll take you to the appropriate screen. Change your setting to 'update automatically' they are very important,some contain patches for security flaws etc
