Ordered my handset today and waiting for it to be delivered. Been reading a lot of reviews about the battery life and how lasts no longer than a day. Anyone here got this phone and experiencing the same problems? Are people complaining about the poor battery life because they leave widgets/apps running all day long? Is there a way to improve the battery life to longer than a day?

I had one for a while, I found the battery life on the desire to be quite poor without leaving stuff running, my advice would be to not have an active wallpaper, attractive but drains the battery, I exchanged mine for an iphone 4 which is wayy better

Noted; thanks.
I've had my Desire since Nov and initially found the battery to last no more than a day. I wasn't disappointed per se since I had read the same as you, however, I now get a minimum of 2 days out of the battery, sometimes 3 days or more.

As cazzz stated, disabling active wallpaper is a good idea but the best thing you can do is put the HTC mobile data toggle button onto one of your homescreens. By disabling mobile data (3G data) when you're not using it you save a massive amount of battery life. Use the settings on the phone to turn off automatic application syncing and add the HTC button to manually sync selected programs with a single press. Connecting and disconnecting from your mobile data network takes seconds and doesn't interfere with the phone signal itself.

Also, don't use a task killer. Despite what some people will tell you, Android manages tasks fine on it's own. Tasks that are not actively being used whilst still in memory do not have an impact on the battery.
Have a look on the net for replacement batteries.

I got one of these for my HD7: http://www.easydevice...DED_LIFE_BATTERY.html

It's miles better than the original.
I have the same phone but my battery lasts for about 2 - 3 days.
The Desire already has a higher capacity battery than the HD and HD7 even though it has a small screen. Never really understood that myself.
Fair enough.

I appreciate the battery life saving tips Mobius. Will implement them as soon as the phone arrives.
