Why not run an ethernet cable from the router to the non wireless computer. I have wireless laptop downstairs and the other upstairs.

thanks seadogg does ethernet cable replace modem? do I connect cable from computer to router and disconnect modem? sorry to be a pain. Also is there special point to plug cable in computer?
But that means you will have to have one PC running to use the other SD!
Easy way .. fit a wireless card to any mobile pc/laptop .. and a LAN cable (yellow usually) to the static PC from the router.
You may well get into connection trouble using a router AND a usb modem onto the same line.
So long as the router is powered up, you can connect any networked (wirelessly or LAN-cabled) computer without any others being powered up.
