I used Magic DVD Ripper to transfer my DVDs to my laptop and then, YouTube Downloader to cut down to the clips that I want.

1. When I use the YouTube Downloader, the sound doesn't sync with the picture. In fact, it's out by about 1 or 2 seconds. I have no idea why this is or how to fix it.

2. If possible, can someone suggest another video editor. It doesn't have to be fancy. I just want to be able to convert it from wmv to mov or avi and cut it down to clips. Simple enough, I think.

Thanks in advance for your help.

That is caused by bad video files .. they lose sync if not cut correctly as header information is destroyed or modified.
Use a better editor .. like TmpGenc 4 XPress.
Movie Maker can be used to edit video files on your hard drive before uploading to YouTube.
Windows Move Maker ... assuming you're not using Linux, or even weirder a Mac. ;-)
If the video is OK apart from being out of sync then download the FREE Avidemux program and you can alter the sound timing to suit the picture. (Google for it)
On the opening panel you will see "Audio" and beneath it SHIFT. Adjust the shift either + or - milliseconds as required.
It is also good for editing. I use it for all my video editing.
i use Move Maker
