I have norton internet security 2005 installed. When i shut down Win XP Home, windows shuts norton off before disconnecting from the net, leaving me open (as some trojans come 'alive' on shutdown) to attacks. How can i change the order of programs that are shut down when turning off my PC?

Potatoman,

I'm not sure i understand your ?, Don't you disconnect from the net by returning to your desktop before shutdown. I'm not so sure its possible to change the shutdown order of your programs. I went to windows help and could not find it. If you have an "always on" connection like cable or dsl the only way I know of to disconnect completely from the net before norton shuts down is to unplug your connection. does this help you?

I agree - if you have broadband and I've understood other people with this same problem then you'll have to disconnect yourself manually (either by going into "Network Connections" and instructing your PC to disconnect or by unplugging a wire) before shutting down.
