Hi All

Having been with BT for over 20 years I am now finding that they are very expensive and annoying (it took over a week to resolve my last problem, mainly because the lady in the Indian call centre couldn't understand me!!).

So I am going to be looking at other providers but are there any you lovely Abers would reccommend? Or those that shouldn't be touched with a barge pole!!

Thanks

I've used Plusnet for my broadband for years and never had a problem with them. Event when BT decided to change my phone number twice after we moved they changed our broadband free of charge both times.
Try and negotiate a better package. You have been with them a long time and could be paying over the odds. I did that with my supplier and got a good reduction.

Thanks milly, I have been thinking about Plusnet.

TTG - negotiated with them last year, didn't save that much to be honest. Going elsewhere is much cheaper (about £15 a month!!).
BT and we find they are fine...it always seems to be good english speakers when they call us
Their customer service is good too. When you make any enquiry they open a ticket on your account so there is constant written record when you log in of any contact between the two of you. You also get a discount if you get other people signed up (although I think it's only about 15p per person :o)
have moved from tiscali(they were crap) to tesco cant fault them in any way i would say good value
I have a Sky package for TV, Internet and phone etc, not cheap but, would go back to Virgin if they had cable where I moved to last year.
I moved to BT as they were cheaper than AOL but it's turned out they're not, and I keep losing my connection which I didn't very often with AOL.

PlusNet is a division of BT. So if you move to Plusnet, you're just moving by name really. They may well have a different tech support/customer service department, but it doesn't change the fact that they're a division of the same company.

I'm not saying should change your decision, but it's pertinent information considering the reasons you've decided to look for another ISP.
Virgin Media. hey may not be the cheapest but they certainly have the fastest internet speed available in my area (20mbps). Their customer service operatives have always been English speaking whenever I have had to phone them, which has only happened twice so far as the service is very good.
When Tiscali fizzled out I went with https://www.bethere.c...web/beportal/homepage

I did have to set up a web mail a/c for my email, but that was easily done with info received on AB.
It came highly recommended, and I can now say '' I have never had a dropped line or and issues with them''
You get through to eastern europe for your helpdesk ... and they dont make excuses and blame your equipment. They just help you out and solve anything you can throw at them.... I'd give them 10/10.
If you sign up with ''topcashback'' you can get another £40 off.
I'm with BT Broadband and I am really pleased with them. When my home hub went down, I had to ring India and the guy rang me back straight away, he was on the phone for 45 mins sorting me out and he couldn't have been more helpful. You may have got a duff operator when you rang - I wouldn't give up an otherwise good service on the basis of one phone call experience.
