I am looking for a new Printer,& the choices are a little confusing. I would like something that is reasonably priced & does not cost a fortune to supply new inks, does anyone have a clue what to go for ?

What are you wanting to print? Text, graphics or what. What number of pages per month? Quality required, mostly mono or mostly colour?

Thanks baitress,I already have a hp 343, & looking at the price of replacement inks for the f 2180, expensive compared to other machines.
scotman, I need to print both text & photo's & used regularly.
Thank you both.
`Which Magazine` recommend Kodak for the cheapest and best and cheaper inks than any others.
I find Epson fantastic!! They use four different cartridges which works out cheaper!! I use compatable ink from www.tonezoneuk.com which is good value.

You do need to use genuine Epson ink for the first 12 months tho, as using a compatible cartridge would invalidate your waranty!!
I have a HP CP1515n. I don't have a massive requirement for printing, so this fits the bill perfectly. Because it has an Ethernet port, it means that it plugs directly into my network router, so I don't have to a dedicated PC for it. Before that, I had a B/W HP LaserJet 5 which provided over 10 years of totally reliable service. And before that I used an Epson InkJet - can't remember exactly which model.

I also agree with using tonezoneuk.com - I save over £20 per replacement cartridge for my CP1515n: http://tonezoneuk.com/category145_1.htm

They are very reasonable. But then I use the 'compatables' much cheaper and very reliable.

They're about £10 on average more expensive than tonezoneuk.com...

cheers all for your excellent answers, given me a lot to think about. Ron.
I have an Epson Stylus SX415 and have decided to use genuine Epson inks, not at the exorbitant price of £9.99 per catridge ( 4 for the printer) but £23.50 per set through Amazon from IJTDirect or Caboodle, free p&p.
