I say, arm the far right protesters and the Muslim extremists and let them fight it out in private.
They should be forced to continue until either a) they've all killed each other, or b) agreed a level of tolerance of each other whereby they agree not to keep p*ssing off the rest of us.
There are plenty of people who hold views which I find abhorrent, but at the end of the day in a democracy - you cannot say one group may protest, but another cannot.
If the BNP chose to march down my road screaming obscenities about blacks, Jews, gays and Asians, I wouldn't call for a ban - I'd borrow my sister's incontinent dog and play with him in the street for an hour or two the night before.
On a more serious note - it was a mistake for the right wingers to cross the road and attack the extremists, because it plays into their hands.
Better to allow the police to film them to gather the kind of information which leads to better intelligence.
We shouldn't have troops fighting in Afghanistan to protect this country from attack. We are being attacked by this home grown scum that are far more likely to do us harm. The politicians just don't get it!
Agree with sp1814........let the muslim protesters and the EDL fight amongst themselves at a seperate location.......
......then the homecoming parade can actually pass off peacefully and can be celebrated by the people who actually want to salute the bravery of our troops
Often these demonstrators are picked up 'after the fact' rather than during. The police will be knocking on several doors in the days ahead. It allows them to police the event without creating flashpoints..........
