hi you technical wizzkids..i need you to tell me how to see films on my Emac..

i asked this question b4 in early march, but its gone now!!
i need a link to help me see films on my Emac computer, which i've downloaded and have on dvds
i think the link was vlc? I also need to know if there is a way to keep this permanent, or what. as every time i go to use the computer the vlc downloads seem to die on me
i hope this makes sense
