Nellie Mae - the name of Zoe Ball & Norman Cook's new little daughter. How sweet - I think this is a lovely name.

I used to have an Aunty Nellie, and who 'of a certain generation' can ever forget Nellie Pickersgill off the telly. Wasn't she played by Hilda Baker?

Mind you, a patient here had a daughter just before Christmas and called her Gladys. Now I'm not so keen on that one? What makes one old-fashioned, so called 'elderly' name sweet, and another one just naff? Lily and Grace are sweet - but who'd call a baby Glad or Hilda?

Nellie Mae Cook but there again, she might not.
Gertrude and maude are also granny/eldrly aunty names imo.
my grandmothers were Maud and Adelaide - I would never have called my girls either of those names. I have an auntie nell and had an aunty gertie too - I think these are both old fashioned names
Hope she's not going to be a chubby girl. She'll soon of Nelly the Elephant.
You may get Hilda in foreign countries like Germany, I like the old fashioned names, the best way to tell if a child's name is suitable is to prefix it with aunty or uncle.
One of my neighbour's has a grandaughter called Daisy, there should be laws against that kind of thing. ;-))

I like the name caitlin but not pronounced the irish way pronounced KateLin - I would have called one of mine that but it would have always been pronounced the irish way
Gladys was my nans name and not one i would choose for my daughter. Im not keen on Nellie (nelly the Elephant packed her bags and said goodbye to the circus......)

my daughter is Amelia, which is another "old" name thats make a comeback though. If little CRX had been a girl I wanted the name Alice or Sabina at that time (2 more old names)
talking of names, I believe Dire Straits are going to form a a new band with Chris Rea lead vocals....and they are to be called ????
LOL
