Hi, I'm experiencing a problem with Google. Every time I do a search then click on the result I want, it takes me to any one of a number of advertising sites, blogs etc., not to the site I expected. As an example,, I just searched for Hyde Park in Google, found many results, of course, and selected the link to www.royalparks.org - it took me to ebay! Did it again and now I'm on something called www.blinkx.com. Do it a third time and somebody's talking to me, trying to sell me an X-box.

Has anybody ever experienced anything like this?

It sounds as though your computer has been hijakced by some spyware or malware.

You need to do a scan with some malware products to see if it finds one or more. I like malwarebytes, but there are others.

Download it, update it, then run a full scan.

There are other malware product and it is OK to install and run more...

Note this is NOT a virus so your anti virus software will probably not find it.

VHG, you are top dollar!

I'd already done a full system scan with McAfee, and Spyware Terminator, neither of them worked. Your suggestion, however, seems to have worked perfectly.

Thanks a lot, really appreciate your taking the time.

Cheers
