Unable to remove backup of my system?

I tried to replace my system with an earlier 'Acronis backup' because I'd lost my 'D' drive and all of the drives E,F,G,H,I. so I tried to install an ACRONIS Backup from an external drive , when several months ago, they were all working. I thought I'd managed ,after two hours of drives activity. But now I have the 'backup' simply installed on my hard drive as "Drive C " and instead of my Local disc C: showing about 35Gb used it now shows over 60Gb used and I can't delete "Drive C". I don't want to reformat my hard drive and re-install everything if I can find a way of removing "Drive C"
Can anyone help,Please?
