Hi, i have a DVD of Stargate. Its one of a set which I have played a few times. Suddenly it will not play in my DVD/HDD recorder (Toshiba). It starts fine, plays the first scene then stops and jumps to the next episode. It then plays the first scene of that then stops again and jumps to the next episode. The disk plays fine in my other DVD player in my kitchen and other disks play fine in the Toshiba. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks

Your Toshiba could be more sensitive in picking up any Blemish/Mark on your DVD, therefore try giving the DVD in question a good clean and try it again

Thanks Redman. Can you suggest something I can use to clean it with? I've tried just a good rub with a towel. Is something like fairy liquid any good?
Anything non abrasive. Try some Fairy Liquid on a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly afterwards. There are cleaners to be had for cleaning DVD's but in the meantime try the home made stuff !

Thanks, i shall try that now and report back

no, that didn't work. Any other suggestions? I wouldn't mind so much but its the one where we see Daniel naked.
It's difficult for me to comment on the Toshiba DVD you have as I have a Sony. Try bringing the DVD Menu up on your TV screen and Scroll through to find section relating to Chapters, just incase there is a facility for skipping chapters with 'on' and 'off'

I don't think it can be that as other DVds play ok, but I will have a look.
Thank you for all you help.
When you next go to the shops buy a Cleaning Disk which you should be able to do from the likes of Maplins or other similar shops specialising in Electrical Accessories.
Maybe that would help as over a period of time a cleanup of your Machine would be beneficial
Question Author
OK will do that. Thank you
