How do I identify a mobile number?

I had a text message which I believe came from a mobile number 07501xxxxxx. (I can't be absolutely sure about this number as I deleted it sharpish.) The message also showed another number, 07785014311, which I understand is a BT text message forwarding centre. I've never noticed this number before. Does it mean that the text message from the 07501 number was actually sent from abroad (roaming)?

no idea, but it seems to be linked to Vodafone.
