M3u files are playlist files, not actual music files, so the m3u just instructs your player to open and play a list of other files that are probably already MP3 files

Thanx ChuckFickens I understand what you are saying but the reason I want to convert them is that i want to store some tracks on my phone and it will not accept m3u files only mp3.....
the m3u is not the music file, it's just a pointer to another file somewhere else that is the actual music file.

hold down the left shift key and click on the m3u file with the right mouse button and select open with, then chose program, then select notepad from the list of programs it will open the file and you can see where the actual file it points to is.
