cd burning

please can someone help im trying to burn a cd ive tryed several differant burning software but i keep getting a message saying no driver found do i need to buy a seperate cd drive in order to to do this? how can i tell if the cd drive i have already is recordable ? (im new to the world of computers still learning how to use it)

look on the front of the drive, does it say CD-R or CD-RW on it anywhere?

if not then it's probably not a CD burner.

thank you for your reply chuck fickens did what you said it just says compact disk what do i need to get in order to burn cds

As Chuck said, if your drive doesn't have CD-R or CD-RW (or even DVD-RW) on the front, chances are you dont have a writable drive, meaning you cant write CDs.

If you're new to the world of computers, i would suggest (if you want a writer) taking the machine to the likes of PC World and get them to fit one for you
