Hello all you clever computer people. Please could you help me with my query?

I regularly enjoyed a YouTube music clip. Yesterday I went to play it, and got a message saying it had been removed.

Is there anyway I could have saved the clip to my computer, before the poster took it off YouTube?

TIA. x

Hiya mrs.c.........I always save mine in favourites
I think he means is there anyway of downloading it and saving it christine847
Yo can download as an FLV file but I'm sure you can download as other formats too. Googling 'download youtube' will bring up some freeware you can do this with.
If you have the latest version of Real Player you can download all such web videos to your computer with just one click.

Hi christine!

Hey, thanks y'all for your replies. It sounds a bit too complicated for someone with my basic knowledge though.

Ethel, thanks for that but I use Internet Explorer. It is the one that was already on the computer (I think).

Ron, where would I find a video file on my computer?

I think Ron is saying that you can save clips to your computer using his link.
If you use Ron's suggestion, it's the link in the address bar at the top of the page that you copy and paste.
Question Author
Hey, sorry I'm so stupid, but does Ron mean that I can create a folder myself and call it "Video File" or is there a specific folder already on the computer called "Video File"?
Question Author
Rollo, I like the sound of that, but it doesn't look as if I've got any version of Real Player on my computer. At least, I can't find it.
You can save a file to your computer with Ron's link. It doesn't have to be called anything in particular..
You can download Real Player from here.

http://uk.real.com/fd/dm/playerplus/dvd/?

Ignore the bit at the top where they want to sell you the bells and whistles version.

Scroll down towards the bottom and click on

Not ready for RealPlayer Plus yet? Get the free basic RealPlayer here

to get the free version which is all you need.

Hey thanks folks. You're all very kind.

Oh heck. I downloaded whiskeyron's link as mentioned above, and managed to download a video, but when I click on it to play it, I get this:

Windows cannot open this file:

File: Louise Tucker Only For You (Elizabethan Serenade).flv

To open this file, Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer.

What do you want to do?

Use the Web service to find the appropriate program

Select the program from a list

Any advice please on what I should do next? TIA. x

Arggggggggghhhhh!

I downloaded Real Player. When I tried to open the file, I got a message saying Real Player needed to download new software to play it.

When I tried to download new software, I got a message saying no new software available.

Damn computers. Feel like smashing it to pieces.
find the file and drag and drop it into your browser
if you can see them on tube it will play them when saved to your 'puter

download gom player it will play the files (honest!!!)
http://www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html

use whiskery's link to download them .....
gom to play them

if you want real player for some reason
this is a full featured "alternative"
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/real_Alter native.htm

none of this is as technically "clean" as the other suggestions ... but if you can put up with the chewing gum and string ... it WILL work
Question Author
Thanks very much for that, AC. I don't know what you mean by dragging the file to the browser, but I have downloaded GOM and managed to get the video playing!

Should I delete Real Player, do you think?

Thanks again. x
