Just received an unexpected phone call from overseas. The gentleman at the other end said 'Good morning, this is UK Brands Surveys. How are you today?'

I replied: 'Very well, thank you; and you?'

'Fine' was the response.

'Then I said Goodbye'.

Now wasn't that nice?

I was not claiming to be clever. I was merely relating an incident. Considering I pay a premium to my telephone provider to block withheld numbers, some people have devised a way round it. And it displeases me.

Not clever - but I do not welcome that type of call and am always polite and discreet in handling them.

I still think it was a nice gesture though.
