Yep! Me too. Comes from having one or two of my own dogs put to sleep in the past. I loved the bit, too, where they were all reminiscing about his life.

Still, I'm please Wellard had a dignified death and wasn't squashed by a car or something.

Perhaps they should plant a tree in his memory in the square.
Oh I didn`t watch it because I knew what was going to happen,I`m miserable enough without crying over a fictional dog!Its too sad :(
I shouldnt have seen it ,it was so sad. It bought back so many memories of when my first dog had to be put to sleep. And reminded me that one day it is going to happen again. My dogs are now 11 and 9. I dread the thought of it.
Just watching it now and sobbing like a fool. She's such a good actress. She played death well.
I knew it was coming, and I was ok till Kyte (Wellard) closed her eyes. That was it, tears streaming down my cheeks.
Best bit of acting ever on EE. Must be worth a gong.
I've recorded it but after all these posts I don't think I'll watch it!
I cried too! So sad :(
I believe that due to ill health, the dog had be put to sleep in real life to. Very moving scenes. I wonder how many of the tears shed by the actors were genuine. After all Patsy & Sid had known the dog for a while.
It was sad, I agree it was better acting than some of the humans.

beejaybee, Kyte (wellard) looked in fine health a day or so ago on tv!
yes tiggerblue i shed a tear, i think the story line was handled very well.
Me too, lankeela. The stupid thing is that dogs don't close their eyes in death - only in sleep, and it still got me right there.
I;m crying my eyes out right now watching it!!
Recorded it last night n was unsure about putting it on, but I did and now I'm crying & sniffing like a fool!
Not only has the show lost its best actor, it's also lost its most likeable and believable character.
Definitely the best acting that EE's has seen for a while! I had a good cry as well.
OHHHH, come on people its a soap opera, and Wellard was played by three different dogs.
Yes we know it was a soap, but for people who love their dogs and have probably been through it themselves it brings it all back. Good thing about it is that Wellard actually got ill from Bianca giving him chocolate, so hopefully the message will get across to people not to give it to their dogs.
