My bloke will be moving in end of year and I'm starting to worry I just dont have room for his things :-) I guess most couples buy a first house together, well I have lived on my own for 6 years now in a one bedroom flat. My bloke shares a 2 bed bungalow with his mate and I am starting to worry where everything will go and I dont want some of his stuff even in my flat (the Leeds football stuff). Anybody else been in this situation?

We're married now, but when we first moved in together he couldn't stand all my stuff stored in the dining room. I'd moved from a 2 bed into his 4 bed. It was a small 4 bed though. He told me I could only bring the essentials...that was a joke...a woman and her possessions can never be parted. We couldn't settle like that so we bought a bigger place together.

Good luck 4get. x
sell half of it
on e bay
or exchange houses

his mate moves to yours and you move to the bungalow xxxxxx

Couldnt happen, I own my flat, they rent the bungalow
It's worth considering selling up though, between what you pay in your mortgage and what he pays for rent, it could be put toward something a bit larger for you both?
Sounds like you definitely need more room.

Maybe you can hire some storage space until you both sort things out.

Gonna stay there for a year and save extra money to do place up to sell laki. At least he doesnt have furniture because thats all his flat mates. So just his stuff in bedroom, but that bad enough.
Morning
Sounds like it's time to get a bigger place 4get, You've got sproglets called nephews and nieces haven't you? so if they stay over you'll need the extra bedroom

they dont stay at mine, I dont want to get bigger place yet. I'd rather know we can live together first. I might end up killing him after 2 weeks, or more likely he'll kill me
hello am i still banned ?
Well, if you're saving for a new place I have an idea for you in the meantime.

I have more clothes and shoes and bags than is necessary and I most certainly do not have room for them all, so every Autumn I pack all my Summer clothes and shoes in suitcases and take out all my Winter get up and vice versa.

I used to put the cases over to my Dad for him to store in his loft, but I have my own loft now.

If you both do that then that's one problem solved - you can pick up the cases pretty cheap in Matalan or the likes, it's not like you need it to be durable like you do for actually using them for going on holiday.

What else are you concerned about? No furniture (tick), out of season clothes out of the way (tick).

Books - have a proper clear out and only keep the ones you know you will read again, the rest can be stuck on e-bay

CD's - Get yourself an External Hard Drive and load all your music on it, then either store away the CD'sor sell them on ebay for a few quid each. To listen to your music, you can buy a thingy (I have no technical terms!), that hooks your Lappy/PC to your stereo and listen through that (I don't even have a stereo, I hook my lappy to the TV and listen to music through the surround sound system). No lappy? That's OK, with the money you are making on e-bay, get yourself an MP3 player and docking station, I'm sure a friend or relative won't mind you poppng in now and again to hook your EHD to their system for you to update the MP3 player? Docking stations are surprisingly loud too! I was shocked!

DVD's - Buy a DVD book thingy (I'm sure making full use of the word 'thingy' today, I think I should get royalities) and ditch all the DVD boxes, this saves a load of space.

Have I missed anything?

I hope some of these suggestions are a bit helpful x

I dont have a computer at the flat and I like my cds and dvds in their cases, Will have a huge collection once I get all his. Clothes idea is brilliant, but difficult with the way the weather is. I think I might just have to charity shop alot of it. Thank god its only his bedroom things clothes etc. Although most of his other stuff is still at his dads, god help me if he wants to get that back.
I worried about all my fella's cr@p when we moved in together turns out he's not all that sentimental, and was quite easily persuaded to part with the worst items.

Men... no taste at all!! lol!
car boot it and sell my stuff same time.

Rent out the flat next door for storage (and spare room when you have a barney)

shelve out the little hallway in your flat and use that for storage of CDs etc.

some good ideas there
I was worried about all our stuff when me and t'other half moved in together but we each swapped our one bed flats for a bigger two bed one.

I had a massive clear out and gave a load of clothes and such to a charity shop, was quite amazed at how much stuff when I'd finished!

Some places only take certain things (couldn't give electricals to Oxfam if I remember right) so best to check.

Gives you a nice feeling you've done something good too :)

There are loads of storage ideas out there now like underbed storage (disappears if you have a valance sheet) and vacuum pack ones which reduce the space it takes up.

Can you get extra shelving put in eg into a wardrobe?
