Connect to or stick in another computer as an extra hard drive and format that way.

D/load Gparted (iso version) burn it to a cd then use it from boot up.

Mac70, I have a computer with only linux installed, would Gparted enable me to format the drive so that I can install windows?

It would wipe the drive yes, and you can create partitions, but it is freeware so I dont use it to do anything tricky.

Remember though, when dual-booting Linux and Windows, Windows has to be installed first.
