iPhone and EDGE vs. 3G

Have I got this right, EDGE isn't as fast as 3G but has a wider signal coverage in the UK.

What are the other pros and cons?

3G is marginally faster, but edge is more stable, i had both edge and 3g. Edge doesnt drop the signal, 3g does if you move sllighty, although edge doesnt support video calls as 3g does.
For the iPhone, the cool thing isn't the EDGE support (or lack of 3G), it's the wifi that is good. With the free use of 7500 hotspots, that should be better for the majority than EDGE.
But most highend phones have wifi, the phone i'm using to answer this post has wifi built in. Wifi on mobile phones isnt new.
That's very true. My point was that lots are complaining that the iPhone is terrible because it only does EDGE and not some 3G technology, but for many it won't really matter as there'll be wifi available.
