Thanks Fender

I have a lightening lead for charging my phone, will that work as the USB cable?

First, connect your iPhone to a PC with a USB cable that can transfer files
Yes that’s what you use
Or upload them to Google photos, Dropbox or other cloud storage.
email iphone photos to yourself & open email on laptop

I think I'll try the lead as I'd like to have access to them all at any time on the laptop.
Maydup, if you upload them to Google photos you will be able to access them from any device wherever you are, download and store them wherever you like and have a backup.

I'll have a look at that Barry as I do need to think about central storage. I use icloud for photo back up on iphone and One Drive for documents on laptop. Moving everything into one place would be sensible.
Back up your photos to icloud.
Log into icloud on your PC.
Easy peasy.
