Your Pronter Manual will tell you how to run the head cleaning routine. Try that.
i found this happens with my hp printer if i forget to tell it what paper I'm using .i.e plain or gloss etc .check the printer settings on the options

cant findeer my manual and tried the printer options and still the same, thanks anyway
With some makes of printer, when you install a new ink cartridge you also install a new head ( HP for instance), but with Epson ( for example ) cartridges you just replenish the ink reservoir trying to pass new ink through a perhaps now faulty print head.
You could download a printer manual from the manufacturers website.

Perhaps the new cartidge new a 'prime' to get it going properly. Sometime even genuine cartridges are faulty.
