Until recently I could create desktop shortcuts to all the websites I use a lot, like Amazon and my bank, simply by right clicking on the web page and sending a shortcut to the deskktop. This option isn't there any more. I'm using the latest version of IE. Is there a way round this ?

When on your chosen website, just click file, then save as, then at the file type box click MHTML.
Click on the tab at the side that says desktop choose a filename and save.
Problem solved.
Or just right click on a blank area of the web page and from the menu select Create Shortcut.

Thanks for your help. Neither suggestion is working, and it's my fault. I'm just back from holiday, and had forgotten that before I went I installed Mozilla Firefox as the default browser. I'm really sorry for wasting your time on this. I've tried with Firefox, but with no success.
In Firefox you can save your favourites to a toolbar at the top of the page. I have 24 which open with just a quick click.

Right click - bookmark this page - create in bookmarks toolbar.

You can edit it, so only the icons show, or icon and a short description.

You can also drag the URL from the address bar to your desktop (or wherever you want the shortcut) in both Firefox and IE.
