mobile phone tracking

Is there any way to find the position of a mobile through it's signal? like if i wanted to find where someone was could i track their phone signal and pinpoint them? ta!

You can buy computer software that can "track" sim cards. The sim card has to be activated for this facility first though, so it is unlikely that an average person in the street could track someone without them knowing.
