Watching downloaded videos from YouTube

I can download the videos to my mac using GetVideo but when I try to play the .flv in VLC player I get an error come up:
access_file: seeking too early
access_file: seeking too far
access_file: seeking too far
and it only plays the first few seconds of the video. I cant download the .flv player from the site as it is only for windows pc's.
Any help appreciated.
