I bought one to play dvds on the laptop but to watch them through the telly but its not working, can anyone help?

You dont just connect the cables and then it works.

Check your laptop manual as you will have a combination of buttons to press to divert the picture from your laptop screen to the outside source ie your tv

You also should be aware that S-Video is only video, so you will still get the audio from the laptop
