please wait while windows prepares to start....
It just freezes at this. Any ideas on what i can do??

I am not sure what is on the CDs so it is hard to give exact answer.

Make sure it is a bootable CD (if there are 2 only one may be bootable).

Make sure your PC BIOS is set to boot from the CD.

As your computer starts up look for message like "Press DEL to enter BIOS"

When you are in the BIOS set the book order to be CD first, then hard disk second.

Then shut the PC down with the correct CD in the CD drawer.

Start up the PC and the PC should "boot " from the CD and then carry on the install.

NOTE YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON YOUR HARD DISK WHEN YOU RE-INSTALL.
Hi the best way to solve your problem is to mbr the hard disk, this removes every thing from the drive including the files put there by emachines to reboot.
then you can install a fresh copy of windows xp and it should find all the drivers you need, emachines want you to phone them for help costting you loads of money.
so get your own copy of windows xp and do it your self
hope this helps

p.s. MBR is a free download and very powerfull .

i cant start the computer as without the disk, the screen is blank.
vehelpfulguy, i did put the bootable cd in the computer and restart with this, all was fine, it re-booted the system etc and said the computr is now ready to start. it turned off then on, the black screen with the xp logo came up then it went to a blue screen where it says:
please wait while windows prepares to start....
it counts to four dots (after the word start)
it then makes some noises and freezes.
